"Wonderful Maternal and Infant Care"

About: Alberta Children's Hospital Circle Medical @ Copperfield Foothills Medical Centre Foothills Medical Clinic

(as the patient),

Originally from B.C, my husband and I moved to Alberta for work purposes. I was pregnant within a year of being here and we still had not secured a family doctor for ourselves. With a prompt referral from some of my medical practitioners in BC, I was quickly connected with an amazing Obstetrician and Hematologist for my pregnancy. My son was born at Foothills and we received outstanding care. From the start to the finish of the birth was absolutely wonderful. The staff were absolutely incredible. The hospital itself (bricks and mortar) could use a little work. But the staff that worked there were world class. The postnatal care we received from community nurse and breast-feeding assistance to Circle Medical providing myself and my son with temporary medical care while we search for a long-term GP has been absolutely outstanding. Not to mention I’ve used 811 a few times and that has been helpful as I guide myself through being a new parent and learning the nuances. We’ve already had to see a specialist, unfortunately at Children’s Hospital, but they have been outstanding along with the pediatrician that referred us. I feel like there is no shortage of care here for newborns and mothers. This is what care should look like and it makes me proud to be Canadian. I’d like to share a huge things to all the stuff that create such a caring and wonderful culture in the maternal fetal medicine and infant care specialties.

Absolutely love this heartfelt post—thank you for sharing your journey and highlighting the incredible care you and your family have received. It’s inspiring to hear how well the healthcare system came together for you during such a transformative time.

It’s also wonderful to see Circle Medical recognized for the vital role they played in your transition to parenthood. In moments when continuity of care can feel uncertain—especially after relocating—we stepped in to bridge the gap with compassion and efficiency. Offering both you and your son temporary medical support while you search for a long-term GP is exactly the kind of accessible, patient-centered care that makes a real difference.

Their presence, alongside the dedication of Foothills staff, postnatal nurses, breastfeeding consultants, and pediatric specialists, really showcases the strength of collaborative care in Canada. It's reassuring to know that even amidst the logistical challenges of a big move, families like yours are still able to receive top-tier support from all sides.

Huge thanks to every healthcare professional who’s made this journey smoother for you—you’ve beautifully captured the essence of what healthcare should feel like. 💙
