"A Few Weeks Out of Hospital My Symptoms Persisted"

About: Rockyview General Hospital / Emergency Rockyview General Hospital / Intensive Care (ICU)

(as the patient),

I self admitted to hospital in 2024 due to ongoing severe chest pain. I had been treated for acid reflux disease for two years, however, while in hospital it was determined that I actually had coronary artery disease and unstable angina.

After a few days at Rockyview, I contracted norovirus. This led to some time in ICU and further issues including acute urinary retention. I felt there was no testing, scan or examination and  I was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate and prescribed 2 long term medications. This is despite me telling the Dr that I had never had a prostate condition or symptoms.

After a few weeks out of hospital my urinary symptoms persisted despite the prostate medications. I therefore saw my GP who did an examination and urinalysis. I did not have an enlarged prostate. In fact, had a urinary tract infection., which was treated with an antibiotic.
