"Waiting Times for Surgeries"

About: Bonnyville Healthcare Centre

(as the patient),

Wait time for spinal surgeon in Alberta was 2 years. A doctor told me surgery probably wouldn't help and said opioids were my option. I paid for a disc replacement in Europe with 100% pain relief just to get off opioids and be able to keep my job

Endometriosis, not enough experienced doctors in Alberta, asked for a hysterectomy and was told it was 1 to 2 years wait. Paid to see a specialist in Europe. Pelvic organs were all attached. Pudendal Nerve was compressed from scar tissue from an Alberta surgery. Adenomyosis was diagnosed, as well.

Started having unprovoked seizures. Alberta neurologist wait time was 18 months. I paid  to get diagnosed with epilepsy by a neurologist at a Clinic in the United States.

I believe that surgery and doctor wait times are what is causing the opioid epidemic. Plus why have a family doctor when it takes 5 months to get an appointment.

What I've spent on medical costs is more than what I pay in income tax in a year. I feel that United States health insurance is cheaper and I would be seen when needed not when a doctor is, so called, available.
