"Health Care Aides in Care Conference"

About: Wentworth Manor

(as a parent/guardian),

Recently we had the annual care conference for an elderly loved one in supportive living at Wentworth Manor. We are legal guardians and trustees for the person but don't live close and aren't able to visit often. So these annual care conferences are very important as often when I visit, I don't see anyone who actually interacts with our loved one on a regular basis so don't have the opportunity to share observations or ask questions as there is usually nothing concerning happening. This year I was very pleased that there were two health care aides included in the conference and it was very gratifying to have the opportunity to hear from individuals who actually knew our loved one and could share how they interact with them and sometimes cleverly adapt to the situation. Our loved one is very private and won't accept help or supervision in daily activities e.g. hygiene.  The two care aides were very helpful and I was relieved to learn that they were very familiar with our loved one's particular habits and had found ways to adapt.

Hello virgo74,

Thank you for your thoughtful and honest reflection on the difference that including health care aides in meetings can make. We understand how important it is to have healthcare experiences acknowledged, and we truly appreciate your willingness to share.

While the provider in your story is not currently engaged with Care Opinion, we will be reaching out to them. Even if they are unable to respond, know that your story still has an impact—it helps others feel seen and heard, and contributes to a broader discussion about patient care.

We appreciate you and your willingness to share.

Take care,

The Care Opinion Moderation Team
