My husband when admitted, was still mobile, sociable but due to dementia, was forgetful. Because he wandered, he was moved from a ward where he could enjoy socialization, to a locked ward where he had no one to talk to other than staff as all residents in that ward were and still are, extreme cases of mental and physical decline. I believe there should be wards for those who wander, to keep them safe, but with others who are of the same condition so they can socialize and not feel lonely.
I appreciate that the facility is close to where I live. It is an attractive building in need of care. The building is in need of upgrading as the ward is run down and needs painting. The upholstered furniture looks like it should be cleaned. There seems to be a bathroom door that is missing and replaced with a curtain. There is no privacy for the bathroom. I feel there is a need for one more person on the memory care ward. I am hoping for improvements.
