"My Husband's Privilege to Live at Bethany Riverview"

this story is about my Husband

Care ::: 3rd Floor N Residents we’re treated as individuals ( not as a group)

Two examples  

       (1) my husband liked to sleep

The staff would take care the other Residents, preparing them for breakfast... then have them enjoy the view from the main room large windows  Then my husband would be sponge bathe ready for his late breakfast ( 9:30 or 10am) then he returned back to the Dining room for lunch ..

      (2) Another resident worked most of his career Night Shift …he wasn’t asked to be tucked into his bed at 8 or 9pm. Because he wasn’t tired to be in bed early .

The staff always knew about my husbands Short span & expected the Staff to be an Octopus.

Whenever my husband wasn’t feeling the best ..it was always reported from the care aid to the head nurse ( day evening & late night nurse ) always.

I truly believe there is no other message my husband can say about his care at  Bethany Riverview…

-Laundry …his clothes were cleaned perfectly ( with no stains)

-Activity … he enjoyed …important…the staff supported he & I  with our Special Parties & always asked my husband if he wanted to take part in whatever activity was happening .

-Occupation …they would make sure if my husband needed anything to help him be comfortable ..his care was improved 

-Dietician  A month or longer my husband couldn’t swallow The staff showed Patience & did their best to have  his food as liquidy as possible 

-Care Support …Patience, respect, humour, always even though he didn’t have the best Patience ( when it happened my husband  would say he made a mistake or he would say  I’m sorry)

 

-Meals ..my husband always enjoyed  even when his diet ( purée..he accepted but not right away staff were always patient with him

 -Room Cleaner …wonderful cleaning ..always spoke kind to my husband

 -Maintenance …Always there for my husband ..many times The blind  chain (first window ) needed repair many times ..whenever I reported about the broken Blind chain …it was repaired within. A day.

-Spiritual …was wonderful ..( the  day in August  I was told  by  Dr G that my husband May have two or three days to live …while walking to his Room ..I looked up to ceiling and said to myself ..please don't torture my husband & I…from his entry to Bethany Riverview ..my husband always was up sitting in his wheelchair  writing me a letter or watching one of his DVD Movie but not on this day in August) what would he & I gained for him 

To be lying in bed with no communication etc your Spiritual Person was with me for hours ,, she told me my husband will be leaving us Today …How blessed we were to see him leaving  us ) 

I will  say I believed my husband ((before He couldn’t swallow  ) he would out live me .. he lived enjoying writing ( print) love letters 

221 Letters …watching his DVD Movies , enjoying his meals & his care… he was my happy husband

-Doctor Care ( two specialist ) were wonderful .

My husband’s last two days was without pain because the night nurse  :::made a call to the Dr. To have a Rx to help him to suffer less … Plus this is important..I was always given a call if he need a new Rx to give him to live more comfortable ..it was an important our loved  ones  were given the best care .. medically , physical emotional  & Spiritual  care during the years

My husband had the privilege to live Bethany Riverview LTC.

 Many Times the Senior Staff ( activity. occupational  & others ) would drop in ( to play …crazy eights with him …they made time …

 I Absolutely feel it  would never happen at other LTC Facility with the care he received
