"Excellent Care and Service"

We relocated from another Province late in 2024. Despite many stories about difficulties finding a doctor or the quality of health care in Alberta along with media broadcasts of various issues regarding AHS, our experience has been absolutely excellent.

We were able to secure a GP within one week of our arrival, who coincidentally had arrived in Calgary from the UK at the same time we did. Our doctor had years of experience and a very broad understanding of many health related topics that do or could affect us as seniors and recent retirees.

In our very first scheduled appointment our doctor introduced us to the services available through the Calgary Foothills Primary Care Network and we have since had several opportunities to engage with multiple different practitioners from within that Network. Our care has included Nursing care follow up, Mental health consultation, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and specific assessment for fall prevention, including in home review of our living situation. 

Each of these professionals have been incredibly thorough, highly skilled and cross trained in many aspects of health care. We have received the highest level of care we have ever experienced and we are very grateful for this amazing network and the services it provides with minimal or no additional cost to us. The communication between the various practitioners has also been a wonderful addition to our overall care as each is aware of our ongoing health situation and have coordinated with the services being provided by other network professionals and with our doctor. Additionally we have been directed by each and every practitioner to online, free or low cost programs encompassing numerous aspects of health and wellness which are available should we choose.

Having these services provided to us as well coordinated through our family doctor has not only improved our quality of life as we age but has also given us great support following significant life changes. It has also has provided our family with a great deal of confidence in our overall health care at a time when aging parents can be a concern.

We are extremely grateful for each of the participants in this program and are very thankful that such services were instantly provided to us through the Calgary Foothills Primary Care Network. This is an excellent program that should be a template for all health care services.
