I was living independently in a seniors' residence for the last several years, receiving daily meals, light housekeeping weekly, along with optional exercise classes and various activities (including musical entertainment). I was paying for these in my rent. However, reduced financial circumstances meant I had to move elsewhere to a fully independent apartment. BUT I still need help doing things.
An AHS referral has brought me a quick assessment, and initial help with my shower -- I'm not steady enough to balance on one foot to wash the other, and visa versa. Additionally, I have a skin condition that requires full-body coverage with moisturizer and it's difficult to reach my back, etc. Today an OT came to note where I should get metal grab bars in my shower for safety. These will be a co-pay, but I think not too high a cost for me. So, fairly quick help on some safety items to help me in my new adventure. I still need to find help with foot prep and housecleaning, which is not AHS's area of expertise. I am very pleased with the quick help from AHS.
