"Issues With Check-In at Lab Services"

About: Government of Alberta - Health Primary Care Alberta

(as the patient),

I find this is an ongoing issue that seems to be discussed in every lab line up by patients. Seemingly, these patients, regardless of whether they have an appointment or not (or are just doing a drop off), end up in one line. For those with an appointment, this could result in being late if the line up is very long with walk ins ahead. I feel separate line ups are needed or a more automated processed for those with appointments so there is not panic around being late, even when you show up early for your scheduled time. For those of us with full time jobs taking time off for labs, I feel there is not the luxury of showing up 30 min early just to get to the front desk in time for check in. Recently, after my late check in, I then waited nearly 30 min for my scheduled appointment. Waiting 45 min with a scheduled time seems problematic to me, and not uncommon regardless of the lab that I attend.
