"Frustration With Being Waitlisted for Three Different Procedures"

About: Acute Care Alberta

(as the patient),

I am waiting for the following procedures:

AFIB (atrial fibrillation) surgery - redo from initial surgery which was over a year ago!! I was originally advised it would be about a 3 month wait, as it was a redo, and I had already waited over a year for the first procedure. Then I called my cardiologist after 3 months to see if they had heard anything. Their office called my electrophysiologist and apparently said it would be about 9 months! So now thats at 14 months! I remember the last time I had it done they called me 2 weeks before to be ready. I am now in my 70's and from my point of view, may have limited active time available. It is frustrating.

Knee surgery - wait list from referral

Colonoscopy - wait list. I was scheduled for a colonoscopy in the summer but as I have AFIB, was advised I had to have the procedure done in the hospital (I might add, that my AFIB seemingly only occurs once every couple weeks).

So, now I’m on a wait list for 3 procedures!!
