(as a relative),

My dad went to emergency December 30 in the late afternoon. He was dropped off by a family member and didn’t see a doctor until the next morning,  the following day. After some tests he was released in the afternoon on Tuesday December 31.

Being awake all night with no food for almost 24 hours is difficult for even a healthy person but I believe it is unsafe and unacceptable for injured, ill, vulnerable people.
