Recently we had the annual care conference for an elderly loved one in supportive living at Wentworth Manor. We are legal guardians and trustees for the person but don't live close and aren't able to visit often. So these annual care conferences are very important as often when I visit, I don't see anyone who actually interacts with our loved one on a regular basis so don't have the opportunity to share observations or ask questions as there is usually nothing concerning happening. This year I was very pleased that there were two health care aides included in the conference and it was very gratifying to have the opportunity to hear from individuals who actually knew our loved one and could share how they interact with them and sometimes cleverly adapt to the situation. Our loved one is very private and won't accept help or supervision in daily activities e.g. hygiene. The two care aides were very helpful and I was relieved to learn that they were very familiar with our loved one's particular habits and had found ways to adapt.
